Kumon History
In 1958, our founder,
Mr. Toru Kumon established Kumon Institute of Mathematics in Japan.
Being a high-school Mathematics teacher from Osaka, Japan, he discovered
that his son was losing interest in Mathematics and falling behind class.
Therefore, he designed a series of worksheets to help his son to overcome
these difficulties. After revision, the method is established and his
son was able to solve integral calculus when he was just in primary
six.
Through continuous revision and improvement, Kumon is now helping more than
four million students in over 45 countries around the world. Apart from
Mathematics, the Kumon method has been adopted in regional languages learning,
such as Japanese, English and Chinese. Kumon India Educational Centre was
established in 2005. Apart from Mathematics, we also provide Kumon English.
We work with the parents and seek for the boundless potential of our children.
Mr. Toru Kumon said, "Every child is gifted. If
we can provide proper cultivation and instruction, we can enhance his potential
boundlessly. As education practitioners, we should encourage children to
enjoy and learn; but not force them to learn." |
